2013 CCBS in Youth America Grand Prix Competition News

Columbus City Ballet School (CCBS) of Lewis Center made a strong showing at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) semi-finals held in Indianapolis March 8-10. Shir Lee Wu, artistic director of CCBS, received the Outstanding Teacher Award. Four of her students received top 12 awards in their age and dance divisions.

Miranda Giles, ages 15, top 12 Senior classical division

Sadie Gladden, Rebekah Dalton, ages 14, top 12 in the Junior classical division

Morgan Ranney, ages 11, top 12 in the Pre Competitive contemporary division. More than 500 dance students participated in the Indianapolis classical and contemporary competition from 72 schools in 16 states, from California to New York and Louisiana to Wisconsin; 2 Canadian provinces; and Japan.

This is the third time Wu has been recognized by internationally-renowned ballet judges for this honor. She also received the award in 2003 and 2008.  Wu came to United States in 1975 from Beijing Ballet Academy in China.
