Curriculum, Evaluation, and Advancement

ballet-arabesqueClassical Ballet is the principal dance discipline taught at the Columbus City Ballet School. The structured step-by-step curriculum covers all aspects of dance training. CCBS also offers other dance disciplines and adjunct subjects, giving the students a broad education in the art form.

Students are placed in appropriate classes according to their interest, age, technical ability, and physical development. Each student’s advancement is based on the realistic evaluation of the artistic director and faculty.

Auditions are required for enrollment in the pre-professional division and professional mentoring program. Faculty will look for technical skills, stamina, musicality, understanding of the classical ballet movements and vocabulary.

CCBS helps students strengthen technique, speed and lightness, attack and linking steps. All of these artistic elements are very important in current professional dance training and will enrich everyone who loves to dance. Students will benefit from CCBS’s unique approach to teaching.
