Central Ohio's Premier Ballet Training Center

Founded by Shir Lee Wu, a nationally and internationally recognized artistic director, master teacher and coach for the past 30 years, Columbus City Ballet School located in central Ohio is a Premier Ballet Training Center for all ages.

CCBS is committed to providing the most up-to-date and well-rounded dance training with a structured teaching syllabus. Through careful and detailed instruction in a nurturing environment, the students at CCBS will receive personal attention from professional, experienced faculty of the highest caliber. Further, the students will be introduced to dedicated and talented guest teachers and choreographers.

The ballet training is based on the universally recognized Russian Vaganova classical ballet system, with Balanchine’s influence, and inspiration. CCBS’s curriculum is designed to take children from their first encounter with movement and music and guide them through the years to become preprofessional dancers.
The school's emphasis is on developing the “whole person” artistically and emotionally and to help young students build confidence and self-esteem, which will enhance their everyday lives. Whether they choose to pursue a career in dance or simply dance for enjoyment, the self-discipline, poise, and appreciation of the art form that they receive will prepare them for whatever path they choose to follow in their lives. Studying at CCBS is a rewarding experience.

Ms. Wu has raised the standard of excellence in dance training and performance. Through her vision, energy, and love of dance, it is no surprise that CCBS is the place where “the joy of dance,” creativity, and excellence have blended together!
Under the leadership and guidance of Shir Lee Wu, CCBS’s dance program is designed to ensure an environment to promote artistic excellence. Students will be taught by a professional faculty that understands the ability of each student so that throughout their training injuries can be prevented.
